Job Description

The Charter SchoolsInstitute, established by the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York (SUNY) to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities under the New York Charter SchoolsAct of 1998, seeks a Program Analyst in its Albany, NY office.  The Program Analyst will report to the Director of School Applications and support the charter school application review process. 

Specific responsibilities include:  review, analyze and evaluate applications to establish new charter schools and to renew or revise schools’ charters; coordinate and monitor the review of initial charter school applications by external educational experts, consultants and Institute staff; assist in the planning and execution of application review panels; respond to charter applicant questions and offer guidance on the application process; assist in preparing acknowledgement letters, requests for amendment, application review resource documents and congratulatory letters; and conduct, along with other program staff, ongoing evaluation and review of SUNY authorized charter schools.

Qualifications: Minimum of B.A./B.S. with a Master’s degree in education preferred.  Strong communication, writing and analytical skills required.  Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and organization.  Proficiency in Microsoft applications.    At least five years of charter school experience and/or elementary or secondary teaching experience highly preferred.  Curriculum review and/or academic program development/review and evaluation experience preferred.  Ability to travel a must.
